Chaos at PDP HQ: Turaki Postpones Meeting, Makinde & Bala Break Through Wike Faction Siege

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) headquarters in Abuja witnessed fresh turmoil today as internal rivalries escalated into open confrontation. Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi forced their way into the Wadata Plaza complex after enduring multiple tear-gas attacks allegedly linked to the Wike faction.

Inside the secretariat, PDP National Chairman Tanimu Turaki, SAN, addressed the press in the company of both governors, condemning the chaos and confirming that the party’s scheduled meeting had been postponed.

“Due to some incidents caused by those who are the enemies of progress, the enemies of democracy, we have decided to postpone this meeting till tomorrow,” Turaki announced, expressing deep concern about the growing threat to Nigeria’s democratic stability.

In an unexpected remark, Turaki made an international appeal, stating: “I want to call on President Trump; what is at stake is not just genocide against Nigerian Christians. He should come and save democracy in Nigeria.”

As the Makinde-led faction gained access to the NEC Hall, tension heightened outside. Sam Anyanwu, National Secretary from the Wike faction, who had reportedly been at the headquarters since early morning, insisted that Turaki’s NWC members were intruders. According to him, his faction does not recognize the PDP convention planned for Ibadan and considers any opposing presence at the secretariat illegitimate.

The faction aligned with Taraku later confirmed that today’s session had officially been moved to tomorrow, citing the need to restore calm following the intense standoff.

With both sides refusing to back down and the battle for control intensifying, the PDP faces one of its most volatile internal crises yet. Tomorrow’s events may determine the true center of authority within the party.
