Kalu Says Senate Remains United, Hints South-East governor Will Join APC and Predicts Easy Second Term for Tinubu

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu says the Senate has successfully resisted every attempt to create internal rifts, insisting the chamber remains united and firmly committed to its legislative duties. According to him, the lawmakers are focused on supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts to address the economic pressures confronting Nigerians.

Kalu explained that the Senate’s priority is to pass laws that ease the hardship faced by citizens, saying its agenda is centered on public welfare. “Our concern is for the ordinary Nigerian. Every bill we push forward is targeted at improving living conditions and ensuring that people can afford basic meals,” he said.

Speaking on the political climate in the South East, the former Abia governor suggested that Anambra State governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, is likely to join the All Progressives Congress soon. He hinted that Soludo aligns ideologically with several APC leaders and governors across the region and described his potential defection as “inevitable.”

“There’s nothing unusual about it. In fact, it’s practically confirmed. Soludo is a progressive, and the APC is the natural place for him,” Kalu noted.

Kalu also expressed strong confidence that President Tinubu will win a second term, arguing that the president currently faces no significant challenger ahead of the next election.

“Who’s contesting against him? Right now, the race is Tinubu against Tinubu. There’s simply no opposition with real political weight,” he said, adding that the ruling party remains deeply rooted among voters and committed to policies aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians.
