Dangote Alleges NMDPRA Boss Lives Above His Means, Claims $5m Spent on Children’s Swiss EducationDangote Accuses NMDPRA Chief of Corruption, Alleges $5m Spent on Children’s Swiss School Fees

Chairman of Dangote Industries Limited (DIL), Aliko Dangote, has accused the Managing Director of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Farouk Ahmed, of alleged financial impropriety, claiming that the regulator’s chief spent millions of dollars on foreign education for his children.

Dangote alleged that Ahmed paid as much as $5 million in school fees to secondary schools in Switzerland for four of his children over a period of six years. Although the industrialist did not disclose the specific names of the schools involved, he insisted that such an amount raises serious red flags.

According to Dangote, the scale of the alleged expenditure is inconsistent with the official earnings of a public servant, suggesting that the NMDPRA boss may be living far beyond his legitimate means. He stressed that this development warrants urgent scrutiny by the Federal Government.

The billionaire businessman further argued that the alleged spending pattern raises concerns about possible conflicts of interest and the overall credibility of regulatory oversight within Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector.

Dangote called on relevant anti-corruption and oversight agencies to thoroughly investigate the claims, emphasizing that transparency and accountability are critical to restoring confidence in the country’s energy regulation framework.

As of the time of filing this report, the NMDPRA and its chief executive have yet to publicly respond to the allegations.
