Speaking to journalists and supporters after the results were announced, Adeleke described his victory as a win for democracy and the people of Osun. He thanked voters for trusting him with a second term and pledged not to disappoint them. He said he would strengthen what worked in his first term, fix shortcomings, and drive faster development under a renewed five-point agenda focused on youth, women and workers’ welfare, infrastructure, agro-industrial growth, education and health, and a better business climate.
At the heart of his message was clear support for the president. “At this point, I must deeply appreciate Mr. President, His Excellency Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his strong support for a free and fair election,” Adeleke said. “Mr. President is a son of the state and I hereby reaffirm my earlier endorsement of him for a second term in the 2027 presidential election.”
He also confirmed that Tinubu had personally called to congratulate him. “Mr President has called me and congratulated me. Thank you, Mr President, for making sure democracy lives on because we fought for it,” the governor stated.
Adeleke has consistently backed Tinubu in recent months, even while running on the Accord Party platform. He has described the president as “our own son, father and leader,” noting that Osun is Tinubu’s ancestral home. He has framed the endorsement as both a moral duty and a practical step that serves the interest of Osun and the wider Yoruba people, pointing to federal road projects such as the Ibadan–Ile-Ife–Ilesa expressway and others approved under the Tinubu administration.
INEC returned Adeleke elected with 511,067 votes against 444,815 for the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji. In his post-election comments, Adeleke struck a conciliatory tone, saying there was “no victor, no vanquished” and that he expected Oyebamiji to call and congratulate him as a mark of civility. He extended an olive branch to all contestants and declared himself governor of all Osun people.
The reaffirmation of support for Tinubu comes against a backdrop of earlier statements in which Adeleke stressed that political differences at the state level, including disputes involving former governor Gboyega Oyetola, do not extend to the presidency. He has repeatedly said Tinubu represents the South-West and that his endorsement remains “unshaken and total.”
With his re-election secured, Adeleke’s acceptance speech signals continued cross-party alignment with the president ahead of 2027 while he prepares to deliver on the renewed mandate given by Osun voters.
