BREAKING: Peter Obi Dumps ADC, Set to Join NDC with Kwankwaso Today

Peter Obi has resigned from the African Democratic Congress, citing internal instability and external interference as key reasons for his decision.
In his statement, Obi clarified that his exit was not due to any personal conflict with the party’s leadership, including its chairman, David Mark, or his political ally, Atiku Abubakar. He maintained that he still holds them in high regard.

However, he expressed concern that the same political pressures and crises that disrupted the Labour Party are beginning to surface within the ADC, with increasing legal disputes, internal divisions, and power struggles taking attention away from national issues.
Meanwhile, Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso are set to formally defect to the Nigeria Democratic Congress today in Abuja.

According to an invitation circulated to journalists via the NDC media platform, the declaration is scheduled for 2:00pm. The two politicians are expected to be welcomed by the party’s national leader, Henry Seriake Dickson, alongside the National Chairman, Moses Cleopas, and members of the National Working Committee.

Party officials described the move as a sign of growing national acceptance and momentum for the NDC ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a related development, the ADC under David Mark has fixed its nomination fees and primary election schedule for the 2026 cycle.

The party pegged the presidential nomination form at ₦100 million, governorship at ₦50 million, senatorial at ₦20 million, House of Representatives at ₦10 million, and State Assembly at ₦3 million.

Primary elections are scheduled as follows: National Assembly and State Assembly on May 21, governorship on May 22, and the presidential primary on May 25, 2026.
